Job Purpose

Collaborates with multiple divisions to design Exterior components and systems which find the optimal balance of vehicle performance, safety, reliability, profitability and manufacturing requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create 3D layouts/data and 2D drawings using CATIA.
  • Correlate and negotiate with internal Honda contacts including other design departs, test departs, factories and purchasing.
  • Lead part design with suppliers. Managing schedule, setting design targets and confirming prospect to achieve requirements.
  • Collaborate with styling teams to set feasible directions and fix final designs.
  • Support part and vehicle verification, developing countermeasures when necessary.
  • Estimate and manage part cost, including review of supplier quotes.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 0-6 years of experience based on education
  • CATIA or other 3D CAD software, self-motivated, organized, multitasker, effective verbal and written communication.

Working Conditions

  • Majority of work is performed in an office environment.
  • Some interaction in test lab, fabrication and manufacturing environments.
  • 5-10 hours/week OT as needed.
  • Some domestic travel, very limited international travel.
