Job Purpose

Honda Aero LLC in Burlington, NC is in search for a member responsible forperforming quality-oriented tasks associated with nondestructive testing, preparation of test samples, and visual inspection, and basic dimensional inspection to ensure aircraft engine parts are built to type design and meet the requirements of the Quality Management System.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform nondestructive evaluations of metallic and composite parts using a florescent penetrant inspection and robotic ultrasonic inspection.
  • Perform variety of visual inspections, including visual inspection for surface defect of metallic parts, composite parts, and welds, and perforation inspection and light leak inspection of laser drilled holes.
  • Performs basic dimensional inspection layouts using, height gages, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, profile projectors, contracer, and other basic measurement equipment.
  • Prepare test samples for evaluation, including cutting, mounting, and polishing of optical samples and separation of filter debris for SEM analysis
  • Evaluation of supplier provided certifications to confirm material acceptability
  • Other inspection related tasks, as directed by Quality Management

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Educational Qualifications



  • High School Diploma
  • Classroom training for florescent penetrant inspection and ultrasonic inspection



Minimum Experience



  • Minimum of three (3) years performing inspections in aerospace environment, with a minimum of one (1) year working in NAS410 NDT program preferred

Skills

Other Job-Specific Skills



  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to established processes
  • Experience with visual inspection and characterization of surface defects
  • Knowledge and basic understanding of tooling, gauges, specifications, procedures, a plus
  • Ability to become qualified as an NAS410 Level 2 inspector for PT, within 1 year of hire, performing:


    • Fluorescent penetrant inspection on metallic (aluminum, steel, or titanium) parts with smooth and cast surfaces


  • Ability to become qualified as an NAS410 Level 1-limited (Level 2 a plus) inspector for UT, within 6 month of hire, performing


    • Manual and robotic ultrasonic inspection on carbon fiber laminates with complex geometry and metallic parts


  • Knowledge of MS Office products
  • Ability to work with in a team

Working Conditions

  • Climate-controlled laboratory environment precision measurement
  • The performance of this position routinely requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection and safety shoes
  • Ability to lift up to 30-lbs
  • 20/20 corrected vision and no color blindness
  • This position may be enrolled in a DOT/FAA Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse program
  • This position may be subject to working a split or off-shift schedule
