About this Position:

The Senior New Model Capacity Lead is responsible for leading, performing, and assessing supplier capacity verification checks, performing in-depth analysis, OEE analysis and optimal process layout activity for specific part or assembly process. Responsible to effectively develop strategies to ensure supplier readiness by model, in preparation for mass production launch. Leading targeted labelling audits within the supply base to ensure minimum process requirements are met and maintained throughout the new model development cycle in preparation for SOP. Effectively communicate and manage North American suppliers to ensure on-time achievement of project goals, as well as clearly summarizing each supplier situation so impact, root cause, and CM are clearly understood and communicated.

Responsibilities include:



  • Initiate/support regular capacity analysis via New Model Capacity Checks (NMCC) for new model lines on a specific part or assembly process (Tooling/Equipment Spec/Part Drawing Spec or Evaluation/OEE/Volume Assessment/SAP Development etc). Manage and correlate capacity output to ensure supplier readiness at SOP.
  • Coordinate and support supplier labelling and capacity readiness at key stages in development. Lead implementation of immediate corrective action plan (short and long-term) at critical suppliers
  • Support critical proactive projects (Capacity Mgmt)/Minimum Process Requirements for all New Model Projects to ensure SOP readiness, Lead communication, interaction, and reviews with HDMA management and supplier
  • Develop, manage, and approve Labelling Minimum Process Requirements (LMPR) self-assessment packages to new suppliers, new supplier locations, or have new supplier production Ines. Complete reporting and Gemba activity for root cause analysis/countermeasure implementation to ensure SOP readiness
  • Develop and manage Semi-Conductor availability & application Surveys to the supply base
  • Mentor and train new associates in the department with Capacity Confirmation, Labelling Minimum Process Requirements, and Capacity-Up technical know-how


Minimum Educational Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience


Minimum Experience:



  • 2-8 years of relevant Engineering Experience


Other job-specific skills:



  • Manufacturing process knowledge (stamping, welding, assembly, material flow, electronics, injection molding, paint, casting, machining, etc.)
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills, knowledgeable of Honda systems (NARS, CMS, GPCS)



Additional Position Factors:



  • Willingness to work overtime and travel due to the cyclical business needs of our NM development periods and launches. (Possibly 2-3 days/week)
  • Open office environment with moderate level of noise and activity.
  • Hybrid office work environment (60% in house/40% remote)
  • Possible shift time adjustment to support critical development phases or production support requests.
  • Regular occurrence of communicating and presenting information in groups for evaluation purposes
  • International travel may be required once or twice a year with an average length of 1-2 weeks per trip (5%)
