DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position offers the candidate hands-on training to acquire the skills necessary for inspecting healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with the Life Safety Code in the commonwealth. As a Safety Inspector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe environment for residents, patients, and staff across various facilities. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough fire safety surveys in hospitals, nursing homes, intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ambulatory surgical centers, birthing centers, and other healthcare settings, ensuring adherence to the applicable Life Safety Code editions. After each survey, you will summarize your findings in an exit conference and assist the provider in developing a correction plan. You will also re-inspect facilities and complete reports to document compliance status for previously identified deficiencies. Your primary area of coverage will include Beaver, Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Westmoreland, Fayette, Cambria, Somerset, Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon, and Fulton counties.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Safety Inspector Trainee program; or
- One year of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, healthcare or other buildings or structures, machines, apparatus, devices or equipment for compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
