GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Project/Systems Engineer for Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Autonomous Technologies, focused on advancing leading-edge solutions for remote and Leader-Follower UGV control. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all phases of engineering development, from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Will lead UGV technical team research, design, development and testing of electronic control systems including mechanical designs and installation of the operation hardware.
  • Will lead Electrical (hardware and software) and Mechanical design teams
  • Will lead detailed design of test control apparatuses and equipment
  • Will interface with the customers
  • Review all programs to ensure systems/design integrity of electrical and mechanical subsystems
  • Ensure all work is completed on schedule and under budget
  • Ensure manufacturability of all designs
  • Interface and resolve technical or program issues with customers
  • Provide technical assistance to all departments within the company
  • Continuously improve design process for all projects
  • Must be able to travel to support existing and new customers
  • Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Assist in training and mentoring new engineers
  • Assist in the technical bid/proposal process
  • Other duties may be assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:



  • Must be able to lead technical project team and support staff

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Familiar with Linux and Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Familiar with state estimation and navigation algorithms, including Kalman Filters
  • Familiar with ground vehicle dynamics

  • Strong and pronounced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to read, write and develop intelligible drawings, instructions and procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • BS in technical field (i.e., Engineering, Math or Physics)
  • A minimum of 5 years experience
  • MS Office experience
  • Experience in UGV development
  • Experience in development/test of microprocessor/computer-based control systems and related software
  • Experience in development, test and/or maintenance of Electronics and mechanical systems
  • Experience with program management or project engineering


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Office, production, and field environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
  • Ability to lift iup to 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel, foreign and domestic
  • Ability to work on large, unmanned ground vehicles
