  Registered Nurses provide direct care to patients and are a part of all care given by other departments. Registered Nurses must continually strive to provide the highest quality of care possible for the patients. They must also lead the nursing team toward the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.     Previous experience with cytotoxic medication and with accessing ports preferred.

    Current Minnesota RN license. American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS required within 4 months of hire. Chemotherapy Certificate Course (Cancer Chemo provider) within 1 year of hire.

    Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients assigned to her/him under the guidance of the CNO and/or Nurse Manager.

    Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing assessments, care and counsels of patient and family in meeting nursing related needs.

    Remains up-to-date on new nursing skills and technology and utilizes the nursing process (observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the delivery of care.

    Performs duties in accordance with physician's orders, the medical center's policies, methods, and techniques, and in coordinating with other departments and personnel.

    Acts as a patient advocate and resource to health care system.

    Keeps oncologist informed regarding patient change in condition and/or admission to hospital in timely manner.

    Demonstrates ability to educate and troubleshoot PICC's and ports.
    
    
  • 
    
    Educates patient and family regarding chemotherapy and plan of care throughout course of treatment.
    
    
  • 
    
    Knowledgeable in biologic therapy.
    
    
  • 
    
    Participates in yearly oncology continuing education.
