Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the front clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may be responsible for cash.

Major/Essential Functions
Typing and familiarity with a computer, ability to interact effectively with others, ability to stay focused on work in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure, ability to understand and follow instructions, and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people. A person in this position must be able to reason with patients, getting them to understand and follow directions according to clinic protocol. A pleasant, clear voice is necessary in communicating with patients and other staff. New employee training. Oversight of medical records and referral processes.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years Customer Service, office or related experience, with 2 of those years in a healthcare setting preferred. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement. Must be a current TTUHSC employee.
