The Citywide Concrete Program inspects curb and sidewalk complaints from the public, identifying damaged or missing sidewalk & curbs that are pedestrian & vehicular hazards and can cause severe flooding. As part of the NYC Council approved Streets Plan, the Department of Transportation will be required to install 50 lane miles of protected bike lane medians per year. To assist with reaching this target, the DOT Citywide Concrete Program was approved to hire new crews as part of the Green Wave Program Citywide Concrete Unit (CWC) supports the agency s goal to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain the City's infrastructure by acting as the agency s primary construction unit. This crew profile consists of construction labor and support staff and the program is in-line with the Vision Zero initiative to protect pedestrians from vehicular traffic. We employ dedicated engineers, managers, support staff, laborers and adopt cost-savings and efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of excellence and service to safety and quality. Minimum Qualifications Qualification Requirements Preferred Skills
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a CDL B or A Driver's License that is valid in the state of New York. This license must be maintained throughout employment in DOT. Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
