Black Hospitality Initiative - Program Manager In Office Position JOB SUMMARY: Are you passionate about advancing multicultural tourism and hospitality? The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Program Manager to support the Black Hospitality Initiatives (BHI), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization within GMCVB. BHI is committed to fostering diversity in the tourism industry through impactful programs and partnerships. This role is essential to the daily operations and project management of BHI, requiring strong administrative skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to collaborate across diverse communities. As the Program Manager, you will work closely with the BHI Director and report to the SVP of the Multicultural Tourism Department, helping drive BHI’s mission to enhance cultural inclusivity and engagement in hospitality. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations and Program Management: · Work with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and students to ensure effective delivery of programs, activities, and services. · Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of BHI initiatives, adapting strategies to meet organizational goals. · Provide essential support to the BHI Director, helping streamline operations and introducing innovative program ideas, strategies, and solutions. · Coordinate meetings and logistics for key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Alumni Association, and Scholarship Selection Committee and university partners. · Serve as a liaison to academic and community partners, including Miami Dade College, St. Thomas Florida Memorial University, Florida International University, and other educational institutions, to foster program success and build strong relationships. Core Duties: Scholarship Program: · Oversee the BHI Scholarship Program, including application review, award coordination, and tuition payment processing. · Maintain detailed records of students’ academic progress, eligibility status, and tuition distribution, updating the BHI Director on relevant developments. · Facilitate the Scholarship Interview Committee, coordinating interview logistics, creating student profiles, and ensuring a smooth award process. · Provide ongoing support to students, including tracking academic progress, monitoring scholarship compliance, and coordinating participation in annual events like the GMCVB Annual Meeting. Core Duties: Internship/Apprenticeship Program: · Assist with developing and implementing the Internship/Apprenticeship Program, including recruitment, eligibility assessments, and application reviews. · Coordinate with hotels, employers, and educational institutions to align internship timelines with academic schedules. · Support apprentices through the program by conducting regular check-ins, monitoring progress, and addressing any challenges. · Plan and coordinate BHI events, such as the HOT Challenge Annual Fundraiser, job fairs, and networking sessions. Marketing and Promotion: · Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance outreach and brand recognition and recommend updates to promotional materials. Financial Management: · Manage the scholarship portfolio, ensuring timely and efficient tuition payments and adherence to financial guidelines. Documentation and Reporting: · Maintain accurate student records and prepare data reports on program statistics, partner feedback, and student engagement. Student Training and Quality Assurance: · Coordinate and conduct training sessions for students in hospitality and tourism to build industry knowledge and skills. · Implement quality control measures to ensure program excellence and identify opportunities for improvement. JOB REQUIREMENTS: · Proficient in program development, events planning, and project management. · Strong cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. · Strong understanding and appreciation for diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences with the ability to engage effectively across cultures. · Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with diverse communities, both within and outside the organization, building partnerships to support inclusion initiatives and convey & deliver presentations. · Strong written communication, research and analytical skills; ability to write clear, structured, · Excellent technical proficiency in using technology and software applications, such as online management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms. · Maintains a consistent professional demeanor and shows flexibility in adapting to changes and solving problems effectively. · Demonstrates a strong positive contribution in team environments, with the ability to foster and build meaningful relationships. · Exhibits superior ability to prioritize tasks, exceptional time management skills, and proven capability in coordinating and managing multiple projects simultaneously. · Possesses experience in, and sensitivity to, the unique dynamics of academic and professional environments. · Familiar with local, federal, state public and private funding resources. · Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the demands of the role. · Knowledge of tourism industry trends, local attractions, and hospitality best practices.
