STV currently has an immediate opening for a Resident Engineer to join our northeast PMCM group. This position will be in our New York, NY office or onsite at the local client offices. This position will oversee all assigned work to ensure that it is managed in accordance with established Construction Management Division (CMD) standards, and effectively coordinated with client facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, preparation, and management of change orders, agreements, cost estimates, schedules, and progress and financial reports.
  • Ensure all project staff are well-versed in approved contract documents, shop drawings, and catalog cuts.
  • Schedule and oversee all required quality assurance and special inspections in accordance with contract specifications and the NYC Building Code, maintaining documentation for occupancy permits
  • Monitor and enforce worksite safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and contractor Health and Safety Plans (HASP)
  • Manage contract budgets, negotiate change orders and claims, and resolve disputes with contractors and relevant departments promptly
  • Ensure the timely submission and approval of submittals, schedules, insurance, and other contractual requirements by responsible stakeholders
  • Represent CMD in client interactions, acting as the primary CMD liaison and ensuring respectful, timely responses to facility concerns and customer service issues.
  • Conduct CMD meetings, prepare briefings, and provide actionable recommendations for project decisions

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in complex construction management roles, including experience with concrete (FRP), structural steel, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and comprehensive building construction (core/shell and MEP systems)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with various stakeholders, including licensed professionals, consultants, client personnel, developers, tenants, contractors, and tradesmen
  • Proven ability to prepare, lead, and document preconstruction, construction, and progress meetings
  • Experience managing and coordinating construction work across multiple sites, including performing and supervising quality assurance and special inspections.
  • Previous supervisory experience, including managing up to 8 direct reports (e.g., Civil/Structural Engineers, Electrical/Mechanical Engineers, Office Engineers, and Construction Inspectors).

Required Certifications:

  • New York State Professional License (P.E. or R.A.) preferred.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and completion of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training.
  • In-depth knowledge of NYC Building Code and other applicable city and state codes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and familiarity with project management tools like Primavera P6, Expedition/Contract Manager, and e-Builder.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Compensation Range:

$102,271.92 - $136,362.56
