STV currently has an opening for a Senior Resident Engineer to work with our northeast PMCM group. This position will be located in our New York, NY office or onsite at the local client offices. This position will oversee all design/bid/build and design/build contract work in accordance with established Construction Management Division (CMD) standards, and effectively coordinated with client facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prepare, and manage change orders, agreements, cost estimates, schedules, and daily/weekly/monthly progress and financial reports
  • Ensure all project staff have an in-depth understanding of contract documents, shop drawings, and catalog cuts
  • Schedule and conduct quality assurance and special inspections per contract specifications and the NYC Building Code, maintaining required documentation for occupancy permits
  • Monitor and enforce worksite safety, ensuring full compliance with OSHA standards and Contractor Health and Safety Plans (HASP)
  • Manage contract budgets, negotiate claims and additional work orders, and resolve disputes with contractors and internal departments
  • Oversee the timely submission and approval of submittals, schedules, insurance, and other contract requirements by relevant stakeholders
  • Review design submittals, methods, MOT (Maintenance of Traffic), and MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) plans to ensure safety, feasibility, and minimal impact on client operations
  • Act as the primary CMD representative in client interactions, CMD meetings, and briefings, providing recommendations on project actions
  • Respond promptly to facility concerns and service inquiries, ensuring all staff respond appropriately and respectfully to client concerns

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Structural, from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in senior construction management roles on complex projects, including experience with heavy civil roadway (on-grade and elevated), foundations, CIP and precast concrete, structural steel, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and comprehensive building construction (core/shell and MEP)
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid New York State Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Certifications:

OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification and a valid driver's license are required

  • Proven leadership skills with experience supervising up to 10 direct reports, including Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors (Civil/Structural, Electrical/Mechanical), Office Engineers, and other specialists.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effectively leading preconstruction, construction, and progress meetings; preparing and maintaining PA-standard documentation and records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with licensed professionals, consultants, client personnel, developers, contractors, tradesmen, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, Expedition/Contract Manager, and e-Builder.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NYC Building Code and other relevant city and state codes and standards.
  • Previous design or construction experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Compensation Range:

$128,289.89 - $171,053.19
