Job Summary:

The Art & Digital Media Department at Marist College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2025 in Digital Media. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate courses for Art & Digital Media majors and minors, participating in faculty service, and conducting research and/or creative work in the candidate's area of expertise. The successful candidate will help oversee digital media curricula and demonstrate knowledge in a range of digital media courses that serve students with interests in 2D animation, motion graphics, game art, and digital painting.
The position will also provide an opportunity for new course development and interdepartmental collaboration. In addition, successful candidates will not only represent a diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and identities, but also demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to all racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender and gender identities, and social groups, incorporating this understanding into teaching and learning experiences. Minimum Qualifications:
|
- A terminal degree (MFA) in Digital Media/Art or related field.
- At least three years teaching experience in Digital Media related courses at the undergraduate level.
- An exceptional portfolio.
- Evidence of diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching.

Essential Functions:
|
- Teach 21 Credits (7 courses per year) in Digital Animation, Multimedia Authoring, Game Art, Intro to Digital Media. Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and other appropriate applications.
- Conduct research and/or creative work in the candidate's area of expertise.
- Engage in academic advising, assessment, and service to the institution and to the candidate's academic discipline/profession.
- Supervise student groups.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Experience teaching 2D digital animation and motion graphics courses.
- Interest in interdepartmental collaboration.
- Knowledge of design history, contemporary issues in digital media and games.

- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

The programs of the Department of Art and Digital Media give students the opportunity to develop as artists, designers, digital media creators, and scholars in facilities that support both traditional media, such as painting and sculpture, and the latest developments in new media including games and emerging media. The programs are housed primarily in the newly renovated and expanded Steel Plant, with four state-of-the-art digital labs, new traditional media studios, a maker lab equipped with new fabrication machines including 3D printers, large format 2-D printers, and laser cutters, as well as an interior garden with cafe and gallery that exhibits regional and international artists as well as the work of our students. Art and Digital Media is part of the School of Communication and the Arts, which prepares students for careers in communication, media, fashion, and art practices, building valuable skills that complement a foundation in a liberal arts education.
