Assistant Athletic Trainer

Summary

Reporting directly to the Head Athletic Trainer, the assistant athletic trainer will assist with providing medical care and coverage for twelve intercollegiate sports; travel and provide athletic training coverage for selected sports emphasizing in football and baseball and assisting with additional coverage; maintain comprehensive injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records; develop rehabilitation and strengthening strategies for treatment, prevention, and off-season periods; handles pre-participation physical examinations for all student-athletes; attend departmental and athletic training staff meetings; other duties as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer/Administration.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This position will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer

  • Handles primary care for student-athletes
  • Provides medical coverage for scheduled practices and home events
  • Updates daily injury records, completes follow-up forms
  • Develops prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and management strategies for athletic injuries
  • Coordinates rehabilitation for athletes
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • NATABOC certification as an athletic trainer
  • Illinois Licensed or eligible before start date
  • 2+ years' experience at the collegiate level
  • CPR and First Aid certified and meet the education minimum standards of the National Athletic Trainers Association
