Job Description

Located in the vibrant heart of Tempe, Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU combines modern luxury with cutting-edge facilities. As a relatively new property, our hotel maintains a state of optimal repair and contemporary style. We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to contribute to the upkeep of our pristine facilities, ensuring operational efficiency and guest satisfaction in a comfortable environment.

The Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in the maintenance and engineering team at Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, overseeing the comprehensive upkeep of the hotel's preventive maintenance programs. This includes the maintenance of HVAC systems, central plant operations, and the overall physical condition of the hotel premises. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hotel maintenance, hold relevant certifications, and possess a strong understanding of industry standards and safety regulations.



Responsibilities

    Lead the engineering team in the execution and upkeep of the hotel's preventative maintenance program, ensuring all work is documented in logs, scheduled appropriately, and completed to Omni's high standards.
  • Monitor central plant operations, conducting daily readings, testing, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain all HVAC equipment across the hotel, including in guest rooms, public areas, and function rooms, to provide a comfortable environment for guests and staff.
  • Oversee the operation of the boiler and chilled water plants, maintaining appropriate temperatures throughout the hotel.
  • Conduct water sample testing for the boiler, loop, and cooling tower systems, recording all readings accurately.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment, including domestic hot and cold water systems, and electrical switchgear.
  • Manage PM (Preventive Maintenance) and repairs of kitchen equipment, providing technical support to other technicians as necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory, ordering HVAC and other supplies, and managing the procurement of supplies with the issuance of purchase orders.
  • Ensure all water treatment processes are conducted efficiently and maintain accurate refrigerant logs.
  • Understand and implement HAZCOM, Lockout/Tagout, and Blood Borne Pathogen Programs.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of Omni's fire alarm procedures, emergency evacuation plans, job scenarios, systems, and service procedures.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in hotel maintenance or a related field, with a preference for candidates with extensive experience in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Relevant certifications in major repair and maintenance areas, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, building management, and operational functions within a hotel setting.
  • Availability to work full-time, including weekends and holidays, as the hotel operates 7 days a week.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the skill to manage, guide, and support a team of technicians.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and best practices in the maintenance and engineering field.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with guests, staff, and management in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining the hotel's high standards.
  • Computer proficiency, including prior experience with Synergy is preferred.
  • Ability to walk, climb, crawl, and lift up to 80 lbs at times.

*This position is a full-time, on-site position with no work from home flexibility.
