Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |

The Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office is
UNC-Chapel Hill's designated, central office for addressing issues related to discrimination and harassment based on any protected status, including sexual assault, sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking, as well as retaliation and other related misconduct.
EOC addresses all matters related to compliance with relevant education and employment laws and regulations, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title
VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other related laws. EOC's compliance efforts include creating, implementing, and enforcing University policies that promote an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming campus community; providing accommodations for students and employees based on protected status; handling matters related to equal employment opportunities; and providing educational programs and consulting services in these areas across campus. |
Position Summary |
As a member of our team, the Testing Assistant will work with various aspects of graduate, undergraduate, and professional student testing coordination, and ensure appropriate implementation of testing accommodations per a student's legally determined academic accommodations. They will assist in the overall facilitation of testing, daily office function related to the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office (
EOC) Testing Center duties, and all other duties as required. The Testing Assistant will report directly to the Testing Coordinator and assist with administrative duties as they relate to the
EOC Testing Center and exam proctoring. This includes preparation of exams (materials, scheduling, checking, etc.), faculty and staff communications, follow-up with student communication, scheduling of exams and overseeing the security and maintenance of confidential exam records. There will be opportunity for the Testing Assistant to take an administrative leadership role in data collection and reporting for functionality and assessment measures. They will meet with the Testing Coordinator to pull historical data and keep accurate records to support future needs of the department. The Testing Assistant will provide assistance to coordinate in planning the Student Leadership program for undergraduates working at
EOC. This will include research of like programs at benchmark institutions and other departments within
UNC Student Affairs. They will help in the modeling and planning of the training and oversight of the Student Leaders. The Testing Assistant will act in an advisor and mentoring role with all Student Leaders at
EOC. The Testing Assistant will meet bi-weekly with the Testing Coordinator for updates and check-ins and will attend weekly staff meetings with professional staff as able. They will have the opportunity to attend professional development seminars within Student Affairs and the university, as well as opportunities to meet with campus partners and visiting colleagues from other institutions. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Demonstrated superior written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to problem solve and find creative, effective solutions to problems, and prioritized attention to detail.
- Secretarial/administrative experience involving substantial public contact, multitasking, and ability to successfully work in a team setting. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Experience working with people with disabilities and/or academic program in a helping profession in conjunction with the required skills.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to move roughly 20lbs with or without accommodations. |
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
