Position Summary
The Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist performs various loan servicing functions to include the processing of loan payments, payment of taxes and insurance, analysis of customer reserve accounts, preparation of annual statements and investor related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review loan documents and enter information into the Core system.
- Monitor flood insurance policies, maintain flood log, and force place insurance according to procedures and regulation.
- Track insurance exceptions.
- Perform escrow analysis.
- Post loan payments and payoffs for investor backed mortgage loans.
- Initiate ACH transactions for loan payments.
- Monitor document requests and clear exception items.
- Monitor and disburse insurance premiums and tax payments.
- Facilitate completion of department certifications.
- Assist internal and external customers.
- Complete check back on loans booked on Core systems.
- Complete all required internal and/or external training classes.
- Reconcile assigned ban control and general ledger accounts and clear exceptions.
- Complete various tasks related to investor servicing.
- Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist II
- Analyze loan history and prepare spreadsheets ensuring accrued interest is consistent with the terms of the note.
- Manage assigned doc requests and clear exception items.
- Facilitate completion of department certifications.
Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist III
- Analyze loan history and prepare spreadsheets ensuring accrued interest is consistent with the terms of the note.
- Manage assigned doc requests and clear exception items.
- Facilitate completion of department certifications.
- Reconcile assigned ban control and general ledger accounts and clear exceptions.
- Train new employees and coordinate cross-training activities.
- Prepare Loan Servicing statistics.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist I
- Two Years of financial institution experience.
Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist II
- Two Years of mortgage loan documentation, mortgage loan servicing, or mortgage loan production experience.
- One year of accounting relate work experience may be substituted for one year of mortgage loan servicing experience.
Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist III
- Three Years of mortgage loan documentation, mortgage loan servicing, or mortgage loan production experience.
- One year of accounting relate work experience may be substituted for one year of mortgage loan servicing experience.
All positions
- Equivalent combination of related education/experience that fulfill the requirements of the position may be used as a substitute for work experience/tenure.
- Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.
Knowledge & Communication Skills
- Read, write, and verbally communicate in an effective manner to customers, co-workers, management, third party vendors, government agencies and loan participants.
- Must be able to compose business letters and possess the ability to read and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effectively explain specific loan details to customers or loan staff in easy to understand terms.
- Manage situations involving confidential information.
- Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.
Analytical & Decision Making Skills
- Self-directed, able to work independently without supervision and prioritize multiple projects to meet firm deadlines.
- Ability to perform intermediate math functions, compute interest rates, ratios and percentages.
- Must have a thorough understanding of debits and credits to include account balancing concepts.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize job functions and assess priorities.
Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
