Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
The
Director of the Center for Leadership and Organizational Excellence (CLOE) is a senior leadership position reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor & Chief Human Resources Officer and is responsible for the creation and execution of a comprehensive and integrated learning strategy to support the critical needs of the University. This includes conducting assessments of organizational needs and development, measuring outcomes of training and development, and implementing and evaluating programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of the University's faculty and staff in support of the overall mission of the University and its operating goals and objectives. This position will be accountable for the establishment and management of a learning curriculum including designing and developing experiential learning opportunities through instructional materials, training courses, and multimedia technologies that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of the University's employees in support of the overall mission of the University and its priorities, operating goals, and objectives. The Director does this by understanding the University's key business drivers and functions as business partners with leadership. The Director will also need to partner with the senior leadership team within the Division of Human Resources, the Director of Academic Teaching and Learning, as well as other university senior administrative and academic leadership to ensure a quality adult learning experience in all aspects of leadership development and training of University faculty and staff.
The Director of
CLOE will have continuing involvement in formulating, interpreting, and implementing institutional processes related to learning and development. They will need to exercise substantial independence of administrative authority and discretion in areas such as needs assessment, leadership development, training and educational program planning design, resource allocation, and evaluation of programs' success and outcomes to ensure best practices are incorporated. |

Minimum Requirements |
Master's Degree in Human Resources, Education, Communication, Organizational Leadership, or a related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience related to Professional Development or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years of leadership experience in a senior HR, talent management, leadership development, or relative role. Must demonstrate strategic vision, effective leadership, analytical thinking, cultural competence, and change management.Experience in budget management and budgeting modeling is critical. Experience supervising others, advanced analytical and project management skills with attention to detail necessary. Strong critical thinking, decision-making, interpersonal, organizational, communication, and writing skills are required. Must be able to work collegially and effectively with a wide range of constituencies and diverse communities. Must also be self-motivated and professionally handle confidential material. |
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
- Master's Degree in Development/Adult Education, Organizational Development, or related field/
- Ability to organize, set priorities, execute a plan of action, and evaluate work.
- Advanced knowledge of techniques and methods of conducting formal and informal training programs and theory, practices, and principles of human behavior to adapt training to audience. Knowledge of current software and theories related to adult learning and workplace development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Experience in a higher education, non-profit, or public sector organization preferred.
- Experience managing Title III or other federal funds.
- Current certifications in Situational Leadership II, DISC, Strengths Finder, MBTI, FranklinCovey, and 360 Assessments are helpful.
