The Detroitoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aMedical Planning Internto join our team.

Working with us, you will: #Intern




  • Assist in medical facility planning, programming, medical equipment planning, and report writing.
  • Assist in the planning/programming for client meetings or other client presentations.
  • Conduct research, assist with the completion of data analyses, and develop reports.
  • Assist in the analysis of long-term healthcare facility needs and develop solutions involving construction of new facilities and major rehabs of existing facilities.
  • Assist in the analysis of space utilization, determine space requirements for expanding, and create solutions to meet evolving space needs.
  • Perform limited design assignments under direct supervision.
  • Work from plans/designs of others to compile data and perform design computations.



An ideal candidate:




  • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pursuing a degree in Architecture, with interest in Planning for Health and/or Science & Technology projects, with a minimum of 3 years of education; preferably with the intent to obtain a Master's degree.
  • Proficient in Revit, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work well number pressure.
  • Communicates and works professionally with all levels including co-workers, management, clients, etc.
