Position Summary

The Director, Finance will oversee the accounting and financial operations of the company. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in financial management, reporting, and compliance in a manufacturing environment. The Director, Finance will collaborate with operational leadership to drive strategy and optimize financial performance.

Job Duties

  • Lead the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Oversee the financial ERP and general ledger to ensure adequate reporting for internal and external requirements, including U.S. Government federal contractor accounting objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and international financial regulations and corporate accounting standards (e.g., Belgium GAAP).
  • Direct all financial transactions of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, asset depreciation, and general ledger adjustments.
  • Monitor manufacturing costs and implement cost control measures to improve margins; work closely with the operations team to analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs.
  • Ensure robust accounting policies and internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Work with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure financial audits are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Forecast short and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.
  • Oversee inventory cost accounting for the plant, including developing standard costs with annual analysis of labor and overhead rates to ensure proper absorption.
  • Ensure compliance with tax requirements and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to changes in current tax laws.
  • Lead financial assessments of capital investments, including equipment purchases and other capital-intensive projects.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship and guidance to direct reports.
  • Foster collaboration between finance and operations teams to drive financial performance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and professional development within the finance function.

Educational Requirements

B. S. degree in Finance of Accounting. MBA degree highly preferred.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least five years in a leadership role. Strong experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Previous international and SAP implementation experience highly preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting required
  • Proficiency with Federal Acquisition Regulation and Cost Accounting Standards preferred
  • Ability to facilitate in-depth variance analysis and reporting
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts across the organization
  • Advanced Excel skills

Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP software, Business Intelligence (BI) applications

Licenses/Certifications

CPA / CMA required

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with occasional travel between buildings and to other locations required. Domestic and international travel may be required.
