Key Position Details:

.25 FTE (20-hours per 2-week period)

Every other weekend rotation

  • 2nd Saturday- 5:30am-2pm
  • 2nd Sunday- 5:30am-2pm
  • 2nd Thursday- 2:45pm-6:45pm

Job Description:

Assists in the meal preparation and service of food and nutritional programs in the nutritional services department. Processes and maintains patient diet orders, ensures tray services are accurate and timely, and directs day-to-day department operations for optimal patient service.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Meal preparation and service
    • Processes and maintains patient diet orders, menus and related nutrition information/records.
    • May make infant formulas and assemble enteral/tube feedings as required.
    • Works with patients, nursing and dietitians to resolve tray service and/or food issues.
    • Checks patient trayline, maintains production tally information and conducts menu assistance and retrieval.
    • Document all necessary dietary and patient information accordingly.
  • Department management
    • Ensures proper storage of food and supplies.
    • Records refrigerator, pot/pan and patient dish machine temperatures as indicated.
    • Completes accurate cash handling reports.
    • Locks and secures the kitchen daily.
    • May supervise, schedule and direct work of nutrition services aides.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in Dietetics from a program accredited by Commission of Dietetics Education (CADE) or at least two years towards a four year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at an accredited college or university or
  • 0 to 2 years diet technician experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years in a diet office as a diet clerk

Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred upon hire
