In this role, you will report to the Lab Services Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Location: Cambridge, MA Shift: 1st shift (Mon - Fri) 7:00 am -3:30 pm or 7:00 am 4:00 pm Hourly Rate: $26.50/hr. (bi-weekly) Benefits:

What we're looking for Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in gas cylinder management, laboratory operations, or a related field. Experience working with suppliers and managing supply chain issues. Knowledge of laboratory gas systems, including the safe use and handling of gases such as LN2, CO2, O2, AR, He, etc.
Skills:
Strong understanding of gas cylinder safety, regulatory compliance, and handling protocols. Proficiency in using SharePoint or similar inventory management systems. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with vendors, lab teams, and safety officers. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to gas cylinders and systems.
Certifications:
Certification in Hazardous Materials Handling (preferred but not required). OSHA training in general lab safety or hazardous materials handling (preferred). Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move gas cylinders weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to work in laboratory environments with exposure to gases and chemicals, always adhering to safety protocols.

In this role you will:
Manage the timely ordering and procurement of laboratory gases, including cylinders and dewars, from vendors, ensuring adequate supply levels to meet lab needs. Safely connect and install gas cylinders and dewars to appropriate manifolds, ensuring proper labeling, calibration, and functionality in compliance with laboratory standards. Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of gas cylinders and related equipment, conducting regular audits, and tracking usage to avoid stock outs and ensure continuous supply. Ensure that all gas cylinders are stored, labeled, and handled in accordance with legal and safety regulations, performing safety checks, and adhering to best practices for hazardous material's management. Accurately recording and tracking gas usage, deliveries, and inventory in SharePoint, providing regular reports to lab management on gas inventory levels, usage trends, and any supply issues. Act as the primary point of contact with suppliers, managing the ordering process, resolving delivery or supply chain issues, and ensuring timely communication with Lab Management and the SciOps team. Train lab personnel on safe and efficient gas handling practices, staying current on industry trends and regulations, and identifying opportunities to improve processes for greater efficiency and compliance.
