We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in HashiCorp Vault and a strong background in information security to join the Team with our partner and client in Financial Services. This is a remote opportunity for a 6-month contract to hire. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain secure infrastructure solutions focused on secrets management, data encryption, and access control, leveraging Vault's capabilities. This role plays a critical part in securing our systems and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. This person is a Sr. HashiCorp Vault Engineer who will effectively own their Vault configuration and manage it for a large financial services organization. They have another team who manages uptime (deployments and keeping it green), but his team will own the configuration within Vault. Why is this position open? They're now using Vault for tokenization. There are two separate instances (1. CDE (Card Data Environment) 2. Managing secrets and tokenization). Justus needs top level support because they're teaching Cary Parker's architecture team what modern architecture looks like. This candidate will need to be a Vault expert with at least 4 years direct engineering experience with the tool. Looking for previous software engineering, code development, SecOps engineer managing infrastructure, etc. *Additional Skills & Qualifications:* *Design, deploy, and manage HashiCorp Vault infrastructure to securely manage secrets, tokens, and encryption keys across multiple environments (on-premise and cloud). *Implement identity and access management (IAM) policies, integrating with various systems (LDAP, OAuth, etc.) to ensure appropriate access control. *Collaborate with security, DevOps, and IT teams to develop robust security policies and enforce best practices for handling sensitive data. *Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery for Vault clusters and related infrastructure. *Continuously evaluate security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements related to data encryption, secrets management, and access control. *Conduct security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST. *Automate tasks related to Vault configuration, scaling, and monitoring using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, and others. *Integrate Vault with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) for dynamic secrets management and encryption services. *Provide mentorship to junior engineers and act as a subject matter expert on Vault and security topics. *Monitor and optimize Vault performance, ensuring system reliability and minimal downtime. *Experience Level:* Expert Level Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
