Description
About the APP Role and Lung Transplant Department Lung transplantation remains the only therapeutic option for patients with end-stage lung disease and is a dynamic field at the cutting edge of medicine. The MGH Lung Transplant Program seeks a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) to join our large multidisciplinary program. The successful candidate will join a program dedicated to a tripartite mission of excellence in patient care, dedication to sharing knowledge, and advancement of transplant science. The position reports to the Program Medical and Surgical Directors and administratively to the Sr. Administrative Director of the Transplant Center and MCS Programs. In accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing Nurse Practitioner practice, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for ensuring continuity of care of lung transplant candidates and recipients in one or more phases of transplant and will work collaboratively across all phases of transplant with members of the multidisciplinary team. The APP is responsible for providing comprehensive care, assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in a variety of settings, in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The APP will also be responsible for providing education to patients and their families. The APP acts as the central point of contact and maintains open lines of communication between the surgeons, physicians, other members of the team, and related clinical services. The APP will perform in the role of Independent Licensed Provider (ILP) and be responsible to work both independently and in collaboration with other providers. This role is primarily for inpatient care (pre- and post-transplant) with potential for outpatient coverage as well.
