Job Summary
The Director of Operations will oversee several assigned hospital clinical departments and procedural areas. The director will be responsible for managing projects, clinical initiatives, and supporting the fiscal year operating plan. The director is an experienced operational leader and will be responsible for leading and coordinating transformational local Jefferson strategies and initiatives aligned with enterprise and regional operational improvements. The Director assists the senior executives with the implementation and execution of the annual operating plan and budget while serving as both a resource and leader to achieve best practice results in key performance indicators for quality, safety, service, people, growth, and financial outcomes. The Director acts as an internal consultant, responding quickly to direction from the senior executives to assess operations, identify best practices, and redesign work systems and processes to achieve higher levels of performance. This often includes leading a multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders in process redesign, and designing systems to assure high reliability and sustainability. The Director of Operations will support the Vice President of Operations in implementing key strategic priorities and initiatives. |
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

- Responsible for key performance indicators of assigned departments. Ensures efficient and smooth operations of assigned procedural areas.
|
- In partnership with clinical leaders develop fiscal year budgets, volume, revenue and cost projections and capital requests.
|
- Monitor and ensure performance to budget/target of volumes, expenses, revenue, utilization and start times. Identify continuous improvement opportunities to optimize efficiency, productivity, patients and staff safety.

- Develop and implement tactics to improve patient satisfaction and staff engagement.
|
- Oversee execution of operating plan projects and strategic initiatives to achieve regional/ local goals. Utilize project management and leadership principles to manage team activities; track project status and results; anticipate and remove barriers; and develop team members.

- Leads and support operational improvement efforts to drive operational efficiency and clinical programmatic growth.

- Responsible for the implementation of various projects in collaboration with senior executives to ensure efficiency and quality performance indicators are met.

- Successfully implement tactical elements of improved patient satisfaction, enhanced quality of care, strengthen the revenue cycle, and increase operational effectiveness

- Plan, develop and execute strategic and comprehensive business development and marketing initiatives to support the objectives and goals, with specific focus on revenue enhancement, and additional market share growth through strategic relationships.

- Collaborates with Business Development, Finance, and Marketing, to develop and implement these growth initiatives, as needed
|
- Ensures that all Federal, State, local and accreditation standards are met and maintained. Promotes and maintains own professional development.

Operational:
- Manages assigned areas, resource requirements, political barriers, and the potential ROI while prioritizing projects accordingly.
- Develops and maintains relationships with other Jefferson leaders.
- Hires, supervises, coaches, develops, and recognizes leadership staff within the scope of respective departmental oversight.
- Develops and deploys robust, executive oriented, analytics tools using Qlik, Epic, and other benchmarking tools to track progress.
- Participates in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Regional committees/teams to help develop and disseminate best practices. Engages staff and management in service and operations improvement projects.
- Communicates and shares data, reports, and best practices to increase awareness, buy-in, and recognition of improvement efforts.

Bachelorrsquo;s degree, Masterrsquo;s Degree required (MBA, MPH, or equivalent) |
AND |
Experience: |
- Minimum of five years managerial experience in business or healthcare administration to include demonstration of advanced knowledge and application of management skills, medical staff relations, financial management, business development, and clinical department operations.
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvement projects and organizational results
- Excellent relationship-building and relationship management skills
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to develop plans, manage and prioritize multiple tasks
