Elwyn is seeking Adult Day Instructors to provide supervision, guidance, instruction, and/or skill building to assigned individuals served within a specific program site regarding daily living activities, safety, community inclusion, and interaction with others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains all levels of supervision for assigned persons served at specific program site as determined by program management in accordance with needs of individual's support plan
- Supervises, instructs, supports and provides guidance to assigned persons served in accordance with the individual's support plan, and working daily toward the designated outcomes
- Follows medical guidelines to administer medication as scheduled or as needed to persons served in strict accordance with each support plan and per medication administration protocols
- Strictly follows physicians' orders for diet protocols and any other medical treatment orders applicable to day program services and ensures that other staff are aware of the orders
- Coordinates transportation needs, as applicable, of assigned persons served in accordance with support plan and dependent upon specific site needs
- Prepares for, and promptly responds to, emergency situations to ensure the safety and security of the program site and persons served at all times; e.g., provide CPR, first aid and crisis intervention as needed in accordance with agency trained protocols, conducts fire drills, emergency evacuations, etc.; Notifies proper authority in the event of an emergency
- Completes paperwork and maintains all documentation as required and as determined by program management for the program site; e.g., attendance reports, daily goal reports, assessments, Medical Administration Records if applicable, behavioral data sheets, Incident Reports, etc.
- Provides support to individuals while engaged in community activities which keep them safe, engaged and happy
- Ensures program site operates in accordance with the organization's quality standards for safety, cleanliness, and comfort and state licensing and accreditation standards and ensures the routine maintenance and cleanliness of Elwyn vehicles used
- Assists in the resolution of problematic situations that may occur for individuals supported; notifies program management of any unusual situations, emergency situations or any problems unable to be resolved
- Maintains adequate levels of classroom supplies in a safe condition notifying supervisor when supplies need replenishing
- Provides support for individuals while providing coverage for lunch and bus duty
- Provides personal care to individuals as needed
- Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process in support of the support plan; reports issues in the event plan is problematic
- Reports all incidents as required by regulation of Mandated reporters
- Promptly reports any infraction of Elwyn policies to program management
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
- Ability to perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, medication administration and crisis intervention techniques according to agency trained protocols
- Current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years of driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record; otherwise qualified candidate may be considered for non-driving position with less than three years of driving experience in the United States to be converted to a driving position upon completion of said three years
