Donor Relations Coordinator

Summary: The Donor Relations Coordinator works in partnership with development colleagues, donors, board leaders, volunteers, and staff to develop and execute a comprehensive donor stewardship strategy. This position oversees a critical component of the donor life cycle, helping the department to exceed financial goals and increase donor satisfaction and engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Donor Stewardship (70%)



  • Implement and manage a comprehensive donor stewardship strategy for individual major gift donors, including endowments, works of art, exhibitions, planned giving, and other major gifts.
  • Manage all donor listings for the department, including donor boards and in member publications.
  • Oversee donor credit lines for the department, including for exhibitions, programs, events, works of art, and named spaces for consistency and accuracy. Work cross-departmentally to ensure compliance.
  • Create and execute endowment and impact reports that communicate the use of donor funds and provide relevant institutional updates to keep donors informed and engaged.
  • Support the team's core stewardship services in acknowledgements, reporting, recognition, and engagement.
  • Draft and produce donor communication templates including renewals, solicitation and donor acknowledgement letters.
  • Support the entry of all biographical, philanthropic, financial information as well as donor contacts with Directors Office, Development and Curatorial Staff and volunteers.


Donor Events (15%)



  • Oversee event planning and benefit execution for Collectors Circle, Legacy Society, and other major gift donor groups.
  • Provide staff support at Beaux Arts Council and Collectors Circle group programs, as well as events intended to cultivate planned gifts and stewardship of the Legacy Society.


Donor and Prospect Research (15%)



  • Manage the production of prospect research profiles and reports for purposes of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, board nominations, and other needs.
  • Assist in the management of prospect lists derived from internal member or program participant lists for use in moves management process.


Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in donor stewardship and moves management systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with prospect identification, cultivation, and donor stewardship is essential. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills and focus necessary. Experienced user of Raiser's Edge or equivalent donor management system preferred. Must have demonstrated professional writing, organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of discretion in working with confidential materials. Must have competence in Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work creatively and effectively as a member of the development team and handle diverse tasks. Must be available to participate in development events and activities designed to support future growth of the Saint Louis Art Museum.

Additional Details:

Hiring Range: $52,468 - $64,274

Status: Full-Time; Competitive full benefits package is available on Day 1, including three weeks of vacation annually with one week available immediately, a museum-funded pension, museum-paid disability insurance, and a world-class wellness program.
