JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY Performs all department procedures and supervises other technologists as well as assists management in technical accountability of services. Demonstrated competence in at least one additional area of neurodiagnostics: Evoked Potentials to include SSPs, BAERs, and VEPs, Intraoperative Monitoring, Nerve Conduction Studies, SPECT scans, WADAs, LTEM, and Tilt table with video EEGs. Patient Care:Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Quality:Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes. Monitors quality of core processes in department. Applies the principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of all patients. Communication:Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills. Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Participates in regular staff meetings. Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from staff and customers. Medical Knowledge:Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians. Obtains complete history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: 2 years of formal neurodiagnostics training required. Graduation from an accredited school of electroneurodiagnostics strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in neurodiagnostics procedures or a minimum of two years of experience in surgical monitoring/CNIM required. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Registered/certified in a neurodiagnostics field required. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Demonstrated competence in at least one additional area of neurodiagnostics: Evoked Potentials to include SSEPs, BAERs, and VEPs, Intraoperative Monitoring, Nerve Conduction Studies, SPECT scans, WADAs, LTEM, AFTs and Tilt table with video EEGs. Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)' age. Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Maintain CPR. Must be able to identify basic cardiac rhythm and rate. Must be able to rotate call independently. Must be able to interpret basic encephalographic brain patterns; normal and abnormal. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
