JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Post-Doctoral Scholar Researcher: Biochar Production The Pennsylvania State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Post-Doctoral Scholar Researcher position working on the topic of Biochar Production.The successful candidate will lead research on the USDA-funded project titled "The Dark Side Of Biochar: Addressing The Threat Of Organic Contaminant Residues In Biorefinery Char Products."Tasks will include sourcing and preparing samples, constructing and utilizing test equipment, analyzing data, and preparing research manuscripts for publication. Travel may be required for meetings with partner institutions and to present findings at professional meetings.The successful candidate will carry out this research in conjunction with an international project team of researchers and industry stakeholders to determine the role of biochar production conditions on organic compound offgassing and redeposition. The ideal candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and will have experience with research on biochar production, organic compound offgassing and redeposition, and design of thermal processing systems as well as modeling of these systems.A track record of successful research in this field is preferred, and excellent communication skills are essential.The successful candidate must have completed all Ph.D. degree requirements by the appointment date.
