Job Description

The Manager, Network Transformation Strategy will build and lead a new team dedicated to enhancing our network capabilities. This role involves analyzing opportunities to decommission legacy network elements and migrate to modern technologies, focusing on cost reduction, streamlined service delivery, and improved reliability.

Scale of Responsibility:

  • Initially oversee 1-2 Analysts during the team's establishment.
  • Hold firm-level responsibility for the operationalization of a multi-year network evolution effort.
  • Company's technical expert in simplifying and modernizing both inside plant (central serving office) and outside plant networks.
  • Develop and implement a copper plant retirement strategy.
  • Strategy for the disposition of retired assets.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Network Modernization Strategy: Identify, rationalize, and prioritize opportunities to replace, consolidate, and decommission legacy telecommunications technologies.
  • Alternative Technology Deployment: Research and implement alternative technologies to enhance network performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Interdepartmental Ambassador: Serve as a liaison between Network Operations Control (NOC), Network Planning, and Field Operations to ideate and execute transformation initiatives.
  • Process Development: Assist in the development and management of operational methods and procedures for business units involved in network transformation and decommissioning efforts.
  • Project Management: Establish, track, and effectively communicate benchmarks for success.
  • Vendor Evaluation and Selection: Vet and select vendors providing modernization and asset harvesting solutions.
Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical work experience.
  • Proven experience in project management, customer strategy, or telecommunications.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in network transformation, specifically in retrofitting new technology.
  • Minimum 2 years' people management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of telecom switching and routing infrastructure, including voice, broadband, and business circuit delivery systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in business case development.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik Sense) to communicate data model outputs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Visionary thinker capable of shaping and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to motivate others and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and a track record of leading change.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Advanced Degree: In a relevant field (e.g., Telecommunications, Engineering, Business Administration) is preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Cisco, or other telecom-related certifications) that demonstrate expertise in network management and project leadership.
  • Experience in Change Management: Proven experience in leading change management initiatives, including stakeholder engagement and training.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud-based network solutions and integration strategies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of telecommunications regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Budget Management: Experience managing budgets for large-scale network transformation projects.
  • Cross-Industry Experience: Experience in different sectors (e.g., telecommunications, wireless carrier, related IT services) that enhance a diverse perspective on network transformation.
  • Strong Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate contracts and service agreements with vendors and service providers.
