Overview
SSOE is seeking a visionary leader to drive our software development, data engineering, and analytics department within our Technology Organization. This position reports to the Vice President, Technology and is pivotal in steering the success, efficiency, and growth of the team. The Development and Data Solutions Division is at the forefront of innovation, automation, and emerging technology efforts, including advanced automation/analytics, data architecture, custom applications & integrations, and the introduction of AI to enhance our Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) business. Our mission is to create value-driven solutions and foster continuous improvement through people, processes, technology, and data. The Director will oversee the software development and data team, collaborating with other leaders in our Technology Organization, Business Operations, and corporate functions to leverage SSOE data as a key business differentiator.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Lead the data engineering and software development team by setting a strategic vision, establishing clear expectations, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. This includes direct reports, technology leadership, and SSOE leadership. Cultivate a global, inclusive, and dynamic team environment that drives unparalleled client value and advances the AEC industry.
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with Directors, organizational leaders, and manager peers to shape and influence SSOE's data strategy. Leverage custom development to align with SSOE's strategic and tactical objectives, ensuring that goals are documented, priorities balanced, and the team's focus directed towards critical projects. Align data and development initiatives with the current and future needs of the business.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with cross-functional teams, Executive management, and other stakeholders to ensure data and custom development projects align with business objectives. Communicate progress and results effectively to maintain alignment and support.
- Project and Resource Management: Strategically oversee the planning, execution, and timely delivery of data and custom development projects. Ensure projects meet quality standards and adhere to schedule and budget constraints. Assess and allocate resources, skills, and talent, including consulting engagements and global workshare, to meet project demands.
- Performance Management: Strategically evaluate, coach, and mentor staff growth under the Director's leadership. Manage global resources, including direct hires and consulting engagements, to scale teams for specific business or project needs. Oversee career planning, training, development, hiring, and corrective action duties.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance SSOE's internal customer efficiencies and overall growth.
- Technology & Data Governance: Partner with the business and SSOE's Information Technology Division (Infrastructure and Support) to ensure alignment with security, redundancy, and sustainability standards for data and custom development projects. Monitor compliance and manage continuous improvement or change management requests as needed.
- Technology and Tools: Evaluate, maintain, and recommend data management, analysis, and development tools, as well as technologies and platforms that align with SSOE's technology strategy and vision.
- Travel: Support operational needs, team development, and project support as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or an equivalent field is required.
- Strong leadership and management skills with proven experience guiding and nurturing teams in data engineering, development, or analytics, ideally within the AEC sector.
- Concrete examples of developing and implementing a data strategy and roadmap, encompassing the management and engagement of stakeholders.
- Outstanding ability to collaborate and communicate, capable of working efficiently with both business leaders and diverse team members across various departments.
- Extensive technical expertise in the design, engineering, oversight, policymaking, and consolidation of extensive data ecosystems
- Proficient in the creation and execution of data governance strategies.
Preferred Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft and Autodesk technology stacks (including Azure, Fabric, Purview, Power Platform, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, and AutoCAD), in addition to ERP systems for management of financial and people data.
- Strong analytical and presentation capabilities, able to simplify and convey intricate ideas to clients and non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge and experience working in various AI platforms
- Proficient understanding of Lean and Agile methodologies within the context of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector and software engineering practices.
- Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000/year based on experience.
