Under the general direction and supervision of the Manager of Server & Storage Administration, has responsibility for the design, support, installation and maintenance of the corporate data storage infrastructure and all associated hardware and software. Select, install and manage cloud storage, hardware, software and management tools. Provide capacity and utilization reporting to management on a regular basis. Competent to work on highly complex technical systems. Maintains effective communications with user departments and other support organizations. Strong customer focus and management of customer expectations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences. Ability to write clear proposals and technical documents and present to Senior Management.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Assists in understanding user requirements, and develops and recommends storage hardware, software, cloud and tools solutions to satisfy the requirements.
  • 2. Provides highly skilled technical development of SAN and cloud storage architecture, design, planning, implementation and support.
  • 3. Responsible for resolving problems concerning the storage environment, contacting vendors for
    support when necessary, facilitating production of application systems and resolving problems involving
    customers with optimum speed and efficiency.
  • 4. Develops and maintains corporate-wide communications standards and procedures.
  • 5. Resolves complex SAN and cloud storage environment problems.
  • 6. Evaluates feasibility of new cloud, hardware, software and tools as they become available.
  • 7. Tests, evaluates and installs new hardware, software and tools as they relate to the corporate LAN /network and hybrid cloud environment.
  • 8. Integrates with a team of Server Engineers in the installation support of systems in the corporate environment.
  • 9. Creates and maintains a three (3) year storage plan to include budget assumptions and updates quarterly .
    Presents plan updates to management semi-annually.
  • 10. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or technical training and /or related experience equivalent in a Storage Environment.

EXPERIENCE

At least seven (7) years of experience in configuration, design, implementation, reporting and monitoring of Storage Area Networks (SAN) and enterprise backup systems.

LICENSURE

Certification from leading storage vendors (EMC, IBM, HP, etc...) preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

In-depth experience and knowledge in the following areas: Storage Area Networks, Cloud Storage, Network Attached Storage, Enterprise Backup Systems and Storage Resource Management. Experience with HP, EMC and IBM data storage products preferred. Network data communications experience including knowledge of VLANs, Fibre Channel and TCP/IP required. High-availability fibre channel, cloud storage and clustering experience required. VMware, Microsoft and AIX Operating System knowledge preferred. All areas require demonstrated, strong interpersonal communication skills. Experience in a large hybrid data storage environment with ability to handle numerous complex tasks at once is essential.
