General Purpose of Job: Assists patients, physicians, customers and associates in an accurate, organized manner. Serves as the initial contact with patients arriving for Imaging Services. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Scheduling
- Schedule mammography exams, breast ultrasounds and breast biopsy appointments.
- Obtain pertinent patient medical history including lab results and prior images for radiologist review. Once radiologist approval is obtained, contact patient to schedule biopsy procedure.
- Obtain pertinent medical documentation for MRI screening to ensure the safety of the patient' undergoing MRI breast biopsy.
- Communicate biopsy date and time with patient and ordering physician office.
- When study requires anesthesia, coordinate with the surgery board runner or directly interact with Anesthesiologist for scheduling availability.
- Register Patients
- Greet patient, accurately interviews and registers Imaging outpatients into the iSparrow (EPIC) system.
- Input and update all pertinent patient demographics and insurance information.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT code/IMG order for registration and billing compliance purposes at the point of registration and patient check-in.
- Monitor EPIC registration queues and make appropriate corrections to assure appropriate changes are applied to account.
- Enter BIRAD data into Mammography tracking system. Make phone calls to schedule patients with BIRAD Code 0 requiring additional studies.
- Attend multidisciplinary breast clinic and schedule follow-up appointments as recommended by physicians at the breast clinic meeting.
- Respond to inquiries concerning the activities and operation of department by referring to established policies and procedures.
- Answer all incoming phone calls.
- Importing CDs from outside facilities, making images available for viewing, interpretation and storage in PACS.
- Create CDs from PACS for referring physicians and patient pick up.
- Provide support and assistance to the Radiologist to streamline workflow in an electronic environment that facilitates rapid turnaround of interpretation results.
- Fix patient files in PACS system (demographics with correct images).
- Distribute and call radiology preliminary results and critical finding to ED, Critical Care, Nursing Units and referring physicians.
- Assist with the completion of studies on the Incomplete Worklist by checking in patient's study, correcting demographic errors and coordinating physician interpretation of study.
- Assist technologists with various duties such as transporting and moving patients and identifying images for processing.
- May be required to rotate to main hospital, Ultrasound, Okemos, and Sparrow Health Center as assigned for relief during vacations, sick time, etc.

Work Experience |
* Knowledge of medical terminology as would normally be obtained through successful completion of a medical terminology course. * Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field. * Previous experience in breast imaging. Preferred. |

* High School Diploma or GED |

* Adept with customer service. * Ability to work at multiple locations. * Effective communication skills to interact with diverse populations. * Ability to perform duties in stressful situations. * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard, with data entry alpha numeric testing required with a passing score of 7,000 KPH. |
