JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY Leads patients in all disciplines of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation in accordance with current cardiac and pulmonary policies and procedures with an emphasis on cardiac and pulmonary health as it relates to exercise. Formulate and modify exercise prescriptions for new Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation participants based on medical history and special needs. Patient Care: Delivers care that is consistent with the team member's discipline in accordance with the specific therapy practice act, guidelines, and code of ethics of the respective organization, i.e., APTA, ASHA, AOTA.
Teamwork: Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members and coworkers.
Technical Competency: Demonstrates technical competencies and job knowledge as it pertains to rehabilitative care.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate Degree required - Master's degree in Exercise and Sports Science or Exercise Physiology. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinic, or experience as an Exercise Physiologist preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: ACSM exercise related certification required. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management. Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data. Has the knowledge, skills, and ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio-pulmonary patients, in conjunction with registered nurses and/or physician as needed. Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
