Job Description SUMMARY: Oversee and coordinate the daily distribution center operation by implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards in order to achieve the appropriate level of volume within specified time limits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Effectively leads the department's colleagues by creating and sharing a common vision & direction as well as understanding of the organization's strategy Responsible for the process flow in a high volume order fulfillment multi-shift distribution center Creates programs that foster good morale, team building, and solid succession planning that creates a high-performance team Manages processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, continual process improvement Demonstrates and reports on productivity increases while implementing cost-saving initiatives Develops and implements departmental changes enhancing workflow optimization Ensures the department's physical assets (equipment, RF units, inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, protected, and utilized Works with Human Resources to recruit, develop, train, and administer discipline Develops, monitors and follows up appropriately on all relevant KPIs Operates within and analyzes P&L statements Manages change effectively while engaging staff in process improvement initiatives Budgetary responsibilities include labor, facilities management, and capital projects. * Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and housekeeping regulations Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing to subordinates, all levels of staff and across functional areas. Establishes and maintains all delivery agreements with last mile delivery agents Prepares reports to support Department of Transportation and OSHA regulations Prepares reports for Senior Management regarding distribution center performance Verifiable productivity increases and cost-saving initiatives Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision Selects, trains and develops an effective and efficient staff: Interviews candidates for open positions and makes hiring decisions Establishes and communicates performance metrics, standards, and objectives; conducts performance reviews Recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, dismissals and terminations Trains and develops staff Counsels employees on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development Coaches and counsels employees on performance issues Conducts periodic meetings with staff to keep them informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the department and company Administers all policies and procedures set forth by DON. Monitors departmental work productivity and recommends and implements changes to improve work productivity Plans, schedules, and assigns workloads, and coordinates workflow and procedures to maximize service Arranges for cross-training of staff to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions Keeps Manager informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; refers matters beyond limits of authority to appropriate parties Performs other duties as assigned
External Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Required Minimum Knowledge, skills, education/training, experience, and physical obligations: Bachelor's Degree required A minimum of 5 years of progressive warehouse management experience is required Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Strong Customer Service skills are required Prior experience working for a distributor, 3PL company, or a retailer with an automated order processing system is required Experience in a union environment and negotiations. Proven ability to successfully manage change Experience setting up and managing budgets
Preferred minimum knowledge, skills, education/training, and experience, physical obligations: Training in Six Sigma or Lean is highly preferred Prior experience with WMS is a plus Prior experience with SAP software is highly preferred 10 or more years of progressive warehouse management
