Key Position Details:

This position will lead both adult and adolescent intermediate care programs at Faribault and be a larger part of Allina's Intermediate Care Department and Mental Health and Addiction service line.

  • Full time position
  • 8-hour, day / evening shifts
  • No required weekend rotation

Job Description:

Provides leadership to maintain and enhance the programs clinical and operational performance. Supervises program staff that include master level therapists, master level psychologists, and/or psychologists. In addition, supervises mental health practitioners and admin support staff within the team. Partners with an Operations Manager in order to provide clinical and operational direction to program staff and program advance practice providers. This dyad leadership team is jointly accountable to create efficiencies and remove barriers in order to drive exceptional results that are greater than what could be achieved individually. Supervisors maintain accountability to Service Line leadership in order to advance work within clinical recruitment, patient access, care coordination, practice management, digital strategies, and the overall patient experience. Supervisors may be required to provide direct clinical care to a caseload of patients to support program needs.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Leading, managing, motivating, and developing of Staff
    • Communicates and engages providers in key clinical initiatives by establishing and sharing a clear, compelling vision that allows them to see their contribution and role in the work
    • Oversees management of program staff performance
    • This includes, but is not limited to:

      communicating expectations

      conducting timely performance reviews

      coaching

      developing clinical skill

      providing recognition

      providing disciplinary actions when needed

      using patient experience data to celebrate and enhance provider practice
    • Assists in recruiting, selecting and onboarding highly talented team members
    • Plans communications for staff meetings
    • Understands and communicate the service line strategic vision to program staff as needed
    • Partners with operational management to optimize the operational design including care team structure and staffing required to carry out the plan
    • Utilizes evidence-based management practices

      Provides instructional learning regarding use of behavioral interventions

      Provide/maintain a caseload of clinical supervision to per-licensed therapists within our departments system, per qualifications
    • Identifies needed changes on how to best support program staff and/or resources needed to best implement care and escalate appropriately to next level leadership and/or key stakeholders
  • Employee Engagement
    • Analyzes and act on employee engagement data
    • Engages in employee rounding activities
    • Provides regular in person presence at site demonstrating awareness and involvement in site activities (lead staff meetings, etc.)
    • Seeks opportunities to promote development and growth as a leader including meeting facilitation and representation locally and within the MH&A Clinical Service Line
    • Fosters provider awareness of their informal role as a leader at the site
  • Deliver Exceptional Patient Experience, Quality and Improved Performance
    • Understands and acts on Patient Experience survey data on a service line level
    • Accountable for survey dimensions related to patient experience
    • Empowers staff to resolve patient complaints and concerns and create a mindset of service recovery when needed
    • Ensures provider resources are aligned for optimal patient access
    • Partners with key stakeholders to co-lead and deploy system-wide initiatives using effective change management and improvement methodology with operations managers
    • Participates in Daily Management System when appropriate
    • Accountable for clinical quality outcomes
    • Identifies and address gaps in adherence to care integration strategies
  • Provide behavioral services
    • Completes individualized functional assessments
    • Develops individual treatment plans/updates to support the clinical need as it arises
    • Completes Diagnostic Assessments to support patient admissions into programming, as needed
    • Evaluates effectiveness of services provided
    • Modifies plans as necessary
  • Financial
    • Manages overall program and staff productivity and address issues in a timely manner
    • Collaborates with operational support in managing operating expense and program volumes/productivity, to support overall program performance by reviewing reports with Operations Manager to determine when and if action is needed and strategically assess and solve problems to align operating expenses and productivity, real-time and long-term
  • Safety, Risk Management and Compliance
    • Partners with key stakeholders to ensure adherence to all safety, risk and compliance policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mental health therapy or related field
  • 3 to 7 years in mental health and addiction services
  • 2 to 5 years in leadership

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Ind Clinical Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work required or
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required or
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy required
  • Licensed Psychologist - MN Board of Psychology required
