A Steve & Kate's Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of 10-16 Camp Directors, who in turn manage all aspects of planning and executing an innovative, kid-centric summer day camp, as well as other seasonal break and pop-up programs throughout the year. This role involves helping your team develop and implement local marketing initiatives; establish and build relationships with thousands of camp families; recruit, hire, train and lead seasonal teams, and; oversee logistics, compliance, operations and inventory management for the programs they manage. Successful Team Leads will develop and lead a dynamic, inclusive and growing team of Camp Directors responsible for building community with kids, staff and families and delivering phenomenal programs for campers, all while ensuring safety, operational efficiency and profitability.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a team of Year Round and Seasonal Camp Directors (up to 16), including recruitment, assessment and onboarding of new hires, talent development, performance management and separation. Supports Camp Directors in doing the same for their seasonal teams.

  • Supports Camp Directors in handling sensitive, emergency, behavioral and medical issues when they arise; takes over if a situation needs to be escalated beyond the Director.

  • Ensures Directors are successfully managing all customer contact for their programs, including responding to email and phone inquiries in a timely fashion, providing exceptional customer service, and handling sensitive and escalated matters for thousands of prospective and attending camp families.

  • Oversees the implementation and execution of compliance processes by Directors to ensure company, city and state required policies for camps and/or childcare facilities as applicable are adhered to.

  • Oversees a nine-figure budget for personnel, food and programming across multiple camps, and ensures resources are managed appropriately by Directors.

  • Supports and oversees Directors in their management of all logistics and inventory responsibilities for hundreds of items valued in excess of nine-figures, which are needed to run camp programs.

  • Manages relationships with host schools that rent out facilities where camps run; also responsible for overseeing and assisting Directors with janitorial arrangements, security and site planning to ensure sanitary, safe and smooth operations.

  • Assist Directors in negotiating terms and managing relationships with local vendors that provide food and programming for their camp.

  • Visit Camps to observe operations, provide support, give feedback, and implement change; may need to travel to camps and possibly lead camp in the event of an emergency.

Additional Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred

  • Must meet the American Camp Association (ACA) Director accreditation standards, which include being 25 years of age and having at least two seasons of camp supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of experience working in a child care or education setting for at least one year coupled with supervisory experience will be considered to satisfy this requirement.

  • 3+ years of past management or leadership experience

  • Experience hiring and managing teams of 10 or more

  • Past experience managing across Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Financial/Budgetary functions

  • Work can be done remotely, but Team Lead will be expected to travel as needed to meet with and observe their Camp Director team, especially during the Summer months but during other times of year as well.

The salary for this position is $80,000-$88,000.

Actual compensation offers will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education and training, certifications, geography, and other relevant business or organizational factors.
