What your job will be like:

The Experimental Physics Software and Computing Infrastructure (EPSCI) groupis part of the Scientific Computing Department within the Computational Sciences and Technology division at Jefferson Lab. The EPSCI mission is to: Identity, develop, implement, and maintain software and computing technologies in support of the Jefferson Lab Science Program. The candidate will participate in various EPSCI projects including software development, data processing, and documentation. They will help develop, deploy, document, and maintain software and computing systems that benefit the JLab science program under the guidance of senior scientists from multiple domains. These will include systems utilizing AI/ML technologies, GPUs, FPGAs, and high-speed networks and storage systems.

In this role you will...


  • Work with domain experts in Physics, Data Science, and Computer Science to develop highly efficient scientific software.
  • Maintain and document software developed with EPSCI participation.
  • Support scientists using EPSCI software with new feature support, bug fixes, and training.
  • Work within a group, but complete tasks independently and report on results.

Qualifications We Require:


  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Object Oriented programming in C++
  • Python
  • Use of Integrated Development Environment (e.g. VSCode or CLion)

Qualifications We Desire:


  • Java, Javascript programming
  • Github CI
  • Sphinx (documentation)
