Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW Support, influence and lead various site wide Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) efforts and initiatives. Acts as a Safety practitioner and coach to the site, providing support and technical assistance in the administration of and compliance with federal, state, local, and company HSE requirements. Implement standards and procedures that protect human safety and the environment. Buffalo is a multi-platform union site with approximately 400 employees leading the safe, high-quality production of a wide range of products ranging from cereal to flour. - Coordinate activities in accordance with regulatory and company-specific safety requirements
- Support site-wide safety initiatives and efforts
- Ensure the impact of regulatory changes on the businesses are being managed
- Assist in compliance assurance efforts by facilitating frequent HSE self-assessments and tracks corrective action plans to completion
- Mentor, develop, and build capability in Site HSE Process Owners
- Monitor facility performance against HSE goals and objectives and communicates results to Central Safety Committee
- Report company required HSE metrics at required frequencies in GSTEMS
- Actively participate in change management such as relocation, modification, and decommissioning of any affected facility, equipment or process
- Collaborate with other Pillars/business functions and participate in special projects as assigned
- Provide assistance in the investigation of significant incidents (fire, chemical releases, fatalities, severe or multiple injuries, etc.) and follow-up on corrective actions ensuring information is shared throughout the Company to prevent re-occurrence
- Actively participate in and support site safety committees
- Support facility regulatory safety training and maintain required training records
- Support new employee onboarding safety trainings
- Coach and develop all employees in risk identification and mitigation
- Collaborate with members of the HSE department to meet/exceed departmental objectives and provide assistance when necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety/Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or relevant extensive work experience
- Manufacturing operations experience and program management experience
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and project management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in key computer software applications
- Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- TWIC card holder
- Working knowledge of local HSE regulations

- International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
