Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join our Team as a Sr. Absence Strategy Lead!

About the role

In this role, you will partner with the AVP Absence Practice Lead to support the development and execution of absence product enhancements and Symetra's large market strategy. You will identify opportunities to enhance our value proposition and differentiate us in the market through cross-functional assessment and enhancement of our products, capabilities, pricing, and operating models.

What you will do



  • Value Proposition/Differentiators - continually assess Symetra's market position, customer/broker needs, and industry developments through feedback from the field, brokers, clients, and other industry resources. Participate in competitive intelligence gathering and analysis to understand how we stack up against our competitors.
  • Enhancement Pipeline - Facilitate dialogue with all necessary parties to determine the most important areas of focus. Translate customer/business needs into actionable insights and requirements. Lead and/or participate in applicable projects and initiatives
  • Tell the Symetra Story - share the Symetra story with internal and external audiences in a compelling way, including in finalist presentations and broker capabilities meetings. Collaborate with Marketing on thought leadership and with Data Analytics to strengthen our story

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,300 - 167,100plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your experience and skills



  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a claims management role or related area
  • Minimum 2 years' experience delivering finalist and/or broker presentations
  • Claims management experience in Absence
  • Knowledge of state and federal claim and leave regulations, including FMLA, PFML, and/or ADA
  • Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) required or willing to get upon hire
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, advanced proficiency with PowerPoint
  • Adept organization and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to see the big picture and collaborate cross-functionally with other areas of the business
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and creativity
  • Data and business case analysis
