Job Title Custodian IRequisition JR000014624 Custodian I (Open)Location Hobart, NYAdditional Locations Job Description Summary Job Description Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm Mon-Fri Hourly Rate: $19.56 Essential Functions Will follow safe working practices in the execution of their assigned duties. Are expected to actively participate in general site and Departmental Safety initiatives. Collect all process related hazardous wastes and transport to accumulation drums, if necessary. Sweep and mop floors. Clean spills on the line floors as needed. Clean and sanitize bathrooms, locker rooms, laboratories, cafeteria and other areas. Wash walls, partitions, doors and windows. Sanitize drains and sinks. Dust, vacuum, wash and sanitize tabletops and counters and perform other general cleaning services. Keep dispensers in bathrooms, cafeterias, locker rooms, and production areas filled with general supplies (e.g. paper towels, soap, toilet paper, hairnets, booties, milk, coffee etc.) Dust and clean lights and air diffusers. Collect and remove trash, recyclables, plastics, etc. Perform all cleaning and sanitizing duties according to SOPs. Perform pest control functions per SOP General cleanup / pickup of grounds, e.g. smoking areas, exterior loading dock doors etc. Clean lower building windows, building louvers as needed Sweep floors in building mechanical spaces and mezzanines Sweep floors of Bldg 17 (storage) & Bldg 18 (utilities) Collection of cardboard and plastic bottles Cleaning and routine maintenance, e.g. replenishing washer fluid, of Site vehicles General landscaping as required, e.g. spot weeding, hedge trimming etc. Perform other duties as assigned Marginal Functions Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Moderate physical demand requires frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 lbs and occasional moving, pushing, and pulling of up 25 lbs. Physical demand also involves walking, standing (90%), bending, kneeling and reaching (15%), talking/hearing (10%) and occasional climbing. Mental and visual demand is intermittent and requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, peripheral vision and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus. Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Exposure to powder and liquid materials or residue requires incumbent to wear a mask on an occasional basis. Protective clothing including shirt, slacks, safety glasses, booties, hairnet, gloves and dust mask are worn at various times in performance of the job functions. Work hazards include exposure to dust, odors, cleaning solvents, noise, vibration and poor ventilation. POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: Requires basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar equivalent to a high school education or GED. Experience: Recommended a minimum of three months on-the-job experience to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position. Skills and Abilities that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: Ability to comprehend and follow instructions furnished in written or oral form and deal with problems involving standardized situations. Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Perform reading, writing and speaking at a minimal level. Ability to work under general supervision to perform the functions of the position.
