About the Role

Woodruff Sawyer's Emerging Business practice seeks a collaborative Account Manager to handle placement, renewal, and service of new and existing business. Account Managers serve as ambassadors for Woodruff Sawyer, possessing technical expertise and confidently discussing markets and coverages with Account Executives and clients. They work closely with the Account Executive to drive strategy and ensure efficient progress.

What You'll Do



  • Responsible for assigned book of business with revenue of at least $1,000,000 or appropriate mix of revenue and complexity
  • Stay up to date with coverages and market trends affecting assigned book of business, demonstrating ability to clearly communicate these details with clients
  • Responsible for coordinating with Account Assistants and/or Account Coordinators and Account Executives; ability to work directly with a Producer, with no AE involvement, when necessary
  • Develop client deliverables, contribute to client presentations, and actively engage in the planning process
  • Successfully handle multiple clients in accordance with P&C practice service requirements and standard methodologies to ensure client retention.
  • Responsible for leading the Marketing and/or Renewal process. Obtain information from markets and clients. Assess client coverage documents. Develop specifications and secure quotes. Evaluate proposals/quotes to negotiate changes or provide recommendations to the client.
  • Participate in delivery of strategic overview on accounts, requesting information from the markets and client and reviewing documents pertaining to client needs
  • Demonstrate ability to build positive relationships with clients, carriers and team members
  • Responsible for timely policy review and delivery
  • Manage contract review and effectively explain and clarify details with client verbally and/or in writing
  • Demonstrate the ability to market and cross-sell additional lines of coverage, involving team members when faced with a challenging issue or to showcase additional Woodruff Sawyer capabilities

Experience & Qualifications



  • College degree preferred, but applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience within Technology & Life Sciences preferred, minimum of five years of industry experience required.
  • Experience with Property, Casualty, Cyber, and Management Liability Lines preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with EPIC preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and shift focus as priorities change.
  • Fire & Casualty license required.
  • Required to acquire the applicable insurance license(s) within 90 days of date of hire.
  • Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.


More About Us

Compensation: Anticipated salary between $75,750.00 - $105,000.00. Salary offered will be dependent upon geography, experience, and expertise of the candidate.

This position is eligible to participate in an incentive program to earn additional compensation with a target equivalent to 8% of salary annually, based on individual and Company performance.
