Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing manual and clerical work in support of a large garage, including intermediate level stockroom duties of automotive and heavy equipment parts. This includes ensuring adequate stock of materials, parts, supplies and maintaining inventory control systems for the fleet management department. Work requires the prompt requisitioning and efficient receipt, storage, issuance, and recording of inventory used in the maintenance and repair of heavy duty equipment; researching the internet, computer data bases and catalogues to determine source supply and interchangeability or substitution of parts; and the ability to understand related terminology and the correct application of diverse and constantly changing mechanical parts and equipment, and effectively communicate this information to others (via emails, telephone, or person to person).
Position Responsibilities
- Research, order, and receives a variety of automotive and heavy equipment parts as requested by fleet mechanics.
- Inspects parts, supplies and equipment for quality, quantity and correctness; verifies and checks items received against parts catalogs and manufacturer's identification, model or parts number.
- Maintains continuous contact with inventory suppliers and vendors; research and procure resources for non-inventory parts and special equipment and determines the appropriateness and/or feasibility of substituting on the basis of knowledge of interchangeability of such parts.
- Issues and distributes parts and supplies to fleet mechanics; determines availability of parts and estimates delivery time.
- Monitors stock levels and updates inventory item records; performing routine physical inventory; maintains appropriate records in fleet management software.
- Checks receipts against vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness of items.
- Verifies and validates requests for specifications; prepares purchase requisitions for orders of supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean stockroom.
- Promote positive interaction between staff and others. Ensure customer satisfaction, both internal and external. May represent the fleet department for cross-departmental projects and initiatives.
- Maintain a positive, cooperative, and effective working relationships with contractors, suppliers, customers, and LCEC employees at all levels and departments. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
- Associate's degree in business administration or similar. (Preferred)
Experience
- Two (2)+ years' experience receiving, issuing, storing, and maintaining an inventory of equipment and automotive parts and related accessories in a parts warehouse, distribution center or similar setting. (Required)
- Prior working experience in fleet management software to include work order, inventory & fleet asset management systems or similar setting. (Required)
- Two (2)+ years electric utility experience. (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of materials, supplies and equipment used in a commercial fleet maintenance environment; ability to communicate with mechanics on a technical level. (Required)
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities. (Required)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. (Required)
- Intermediate level skill using MS Office suite to include Word and Excel. (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Florida or must obtain within 30 days of employment. (Required)
