Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
The Graduate Assistant for the Lewis University Writing Center serves as a writing tutor for graduate and adult students and also assists with daily operations of the Writing Center.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Provide advanced writing and graduate tutoring for students enrolled in Lewis University's graduate programs, as well as those students enrolled in adult accelerated programs.
-Conduct online tutoring to Writing Center clients using web-based tools.
-Offer Graduate Writing workshops and in-class Graduate Writing support for classes
-Help to develop the NEW Writing Center Fellows writing support in response to WAC and increased writing needs.
-Conduct and develop classroom tutoring and classroom graduate tutoring sessions.
-Prepare and present information to classes about the Writing Center.
-Assist in the development, implementation and dissemination of Writing Center promotional materials and web presence.
-Offer more writing support at regional campuses.
-Assist with the scheduling of appointments using WC Online.
-Assist more with Graduate Writing support and Graduate Writing programming
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required and must be enrolled and maintain academic excellence in one of Lewis University's graduate programs. Demonstrated writing excellence via writing samples and recommendation letter from a faculty member; excellent social skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference to have worked in a Writing Center or have tutoring experience.
Essential Duties
Work hours
Part time; minimum of 20 hours per week, year round.
