Overview
The Captial Placement Associate will contribute to the Capital Placement group in pitching and advising Real Estate Sponsors on off-balance sheet CRE debt and equity capital strategies. The Capital Placement segment is CNB's interface in extending alternative offerings through correspondent and other relationships as a full-service banking provider. This associate will have primary responsibilities for partnering senior members in the origination, structure, and distribution on behalf of CNB's relationships for specific short-term and long-term CRE debt and equity activities through Agency, HUD, Lifeco, Debt Funds, CMBS, JV Equity, and Pref/Mezz providers. Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Partner in originating and executing Capital Placement transactions as an active member within the Bank's Capital Markets team.Actively partner with the Capital Placement Banker(s) in the existing CRE portfolio of upcoming loan maturities and exit opportunities in positioning CNB as a full-service provider of alternative 3rd party financing (e.g. construction financing, bridge financing, permanent financing, etc.)
- Contribute with the Capital Placement Banker(s) in new client opportunities for Capital Placement off-balance sheet credit and equity transactions (e.g. Agency, Debt Funds, Pref, Mezz, Lifeco, CMBS, GP/JV Equity)
- Collaborate with the Capital Markets team, Director(s), and/or Managing Director to develop new correspondent relationships and other 3rd party alternative sources of capital.
- Contribute in arranging of new deals from inception to close with the client and correspondent relationships.
- Administer and maintain the Capital Placement Pipeline, Directory, Virtual Data Rooms, etc.
- Prepare proposals, pitchbooks, and presentations to the client and primary/secondary market investors.
- Attend and/or lead industry events (e.g. CREFC, MBA, IMN Family Office, etc.)
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging opportunities that could impact the capital strategy such participant lender activities, market pricing, credit appetite, etc.
- Serve as subject matter expert in all aspects of syndicated finance and capital markets.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of proven experience in RE capital markets, RE investment banking, RE private equity, or a related field.
- Focus on arranging and placing Agency, HUD, CMBS, Lifeco, Debt funds, JV equity, etc.
- Private markets fund experience is a big plus.
- Strong understanding of real estate finance and investment.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent analytical and basic financial modeling skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with investors and financial partners.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, Real Estate, economics, or related field.
