Summary/Objective

The Design Engineer can work within a dynamic group to meet project goals and timelines. The person in this position must be well organized, detail oriented, and have the flexibility to handle multiple project assignments.

Essential Functions

  1. This position is responsible for creating R&D for all departments in the plant which includes but not limited to; furniture & marine.
  2. 2/3D drawings and layouts using MasterCam, Top Solid Design/Nesting, Lectra, and Solidworks
  3. Specifications including foam, vinyl, wood and plastic
  4. Cost estimates and bill of materials
  5. Nesting for production floor
  6. Develop designs for complete seating structures and production programs
  7. Plans and executes the presentation of arrangements in graphic form or in detailed scale models
  8. Plans, organizes, and coordinates workload to achieve objectives
  9. Collects, reads, interprets and sees related reference documents and drawings prepares by other disciplines, vendors or outside sources
  10. Ensures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy and operating convenience
  11. Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality as observed in finished product audits
  12. Assist others with production issues
  13. Helps others collect or deliver design and engineering data at job sites or client offices
  14. Frequent contact and interaction with production, purchasing, and direct supervisor

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work could also become necessary.

Travel

Minimal local travel.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma and/or related associates degree in engineering or specific discipline and two years' experience; or Four years related experience and/or training specialized in drafting, design, and engineering practices; or
  2. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  3. Ability to read and interpret documents.
  4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Manufacturing/industry experience.
  2. Experience working with multiple discipline projects
  3. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, MasterCam, Top Solid, Lectra 2/3D, and Solidworks
  4. Organizational skills, communication proficiency, initiative, thoroughness, and time management

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
