The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Clinical Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. What we're looking for:
Education: Bachelor's degree in an industrial safety field and/or equivalent experience, education, and training * Experience: 5+ years of relevant work experience; 8+ years if degree is in non-technical field * Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office Suite experience is required. * Preferred Qualifications: o Verbal Spanish proficiency o Education related discipline such as Occupational Safety, Emergency Management, Industrial Ergonomics, Operations and Fire Science Qualifications: Strong leadership, decision-making and analytical skills * Organizational skills required to prioritize work and meet deadlines. * Working knowledge of industrial ergonomics, safety incident case management and incident investigation techniques as well as first aid programs. * Excellent interpersonal skill, including strong oral and written communication skills. * Must have a strong working knowledge of operational and technical issues and concepts, and an understanding of the associate EHS requirements. How you will thrive and create an impact: The Analyst II will prepare Avantor locations for emergencies, works to reduce the occurrence of safety, health, medical, environmental, and regulatory issues, and ensures the completion of EHS3 training as needed. In this role you will: * Implement the strategies necessary to eliminate or minimize the exposures that contribute of occupational injuries and illnesses. * Work closely with the Human Resources, Site Operations Leaders and Third Party Workers Compensation Administrators (TPA) to establish and implement strategic plans that result in effective management of workers compensation claims, drive down company expenses related to the claims and reduce the Company's workers' compensation exposure. * Principal Subject Matter Expert support to Site Operations Leaders in managing incident cases, including employee reports of discomfort, injury, or illness. * Work with the various local business partners to establish contingency plans that address potential emergencies including seismic events, fires, evacuations, workplace violence, labor interruption and other potential business interruptions. * Conduct and coordinate safety management system compliance inspections and audits, ensures the appropriate actions are taken to resolve audit findings, and implements the programs to continuously improve the safety management systems. * Conduct incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis and performs site risk assessments and safety program gap analysis. * Provide environmental, health and safety training. * Partner with the Facility Manager and site leadership to implement physical security measures and manage security programs. * Manage hazardous waste programs and ensures that hazardous waste is stored and transported in accordance with applicable rules. Ensures that associates who handle hazardous waste are trained in accordance with applicable rules. * Work with the Site Leader to develop sustainability related initiatives including but not limited to the reduction of natural resource usage and the minimization of waste. * Perform other duties as assigned.
