Software Engineer III, Clinic Interfaces and EMR (Remote - US Based)

About the Role:

We are seeking a Mid to Senior Level Software Engineer who is passionate about transforming healthcare through innovative technology. In this role, you will be instrumental in enabling the incorporation of genomics into clinical care, helping to deliver on the promise of precision medicine. You'll work on the forefront of healthcare technology, designing and building tools that directly support clinical workflows, integrating seamlessly with health systems and biopharma partners.

As part of our team, you will leverage healthcare standards like FHIR and SMART on FHIR to expand our interoperability capabilities, empowering patients and providers to make more informed, personalized healthcare decisions. Your expertise will be key in building robust, scalable APIs that drive interoperability with electronic health record (EHR) systems, enabling data exchange and integration across clinical and research domains. Working predominantly with Python and TypeScript, you will create secure, efficient solutions that meet rigorous healthcare standards, ensuring our applications are adaptable, compliant, and resilient.

This role is a unique opportunity to build and enhance the tools that support healthcare's digital evolution, from genomics-driven care to advanced clinical decision support. If you are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare and have the technical and domain expertise to bring complex integrations to life, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications with a focus on scalability, security, and performance
  • Specify and implement clean, efficient APIs across the stack (internal, external, REST, GraphQL, FHIR, etc.)
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to healthcare-focused solutions
  • Ensure compliance and compatibility with healthcare standards to facilitate interoperability
  • Uphold high standards for testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure code quality and stability
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a collaborative team environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack web development
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with experience across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB
  • Strong experience building and running containers for production systems
  • Solid experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and domain-driven design (DDD) principles
  • Experience with healthcare standards, specifically FHIR, and a strong understanding of healthcare interoperability challenges
  • Demonstrated commitment to testing best practices and writing maintainable, testable code
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, NextJS) and backend frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI)
  • Experience with OAuth2
  • Experience with Kafka
  • Familiarity with cloud providers, particularly AWS, and related infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or regulated environment is a plus
