The Thomas Hill Energy Center is accepting applications for our Auxiliary Operator 1st Period applicant pool. In this role you will support safe and efficient plant operations by operating turbine and boiler auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring, inspecting, and adjusting equipment, performing housekeeping, and recording equipment readings.

What you'll be doing:

  • Under the direction of Management and/or Control Room Operator, safely and efficiently perform work in the plant, outside structures and buildings. Operate the turbine and boiler auxiliary equipment including but not limited to, the following systems: ash removal, soot blowing, circulating water, hydrogen cooling, equipment lubricating, shot hopper cleaning, water treatment, building heating and cooling, CO2 purge and pumps, fans and compressors.
  • Start, stop, inspect, adjust, regulate, and lubricate equipment, report when maintenance of equipment is required, take gauge readings, perform necessary tests and write work requests for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform housekeeping work in assigned areas to maintain order and cleanliness.
  • Operate anhydrous ammonia systems to include unloading trucks in accordance with PSM and Operations procedures.
  • Record equipment readings on mobile devices for plant equipment, the switchyard and transformer yard.

What you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one-year industrial mechanical or electrical background.
  • Obtain passing result from the applicable pre-employment test(s).
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Required to work from heights.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn all components of the power plant.
