This is a part-time position that will not exceed 20 hours per week. However, this position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

In this position, you will have an opportunity to work as a Legal Intern in our office. In this role, you will gain practical, hands-on experience working with experienced attorneys and legal professionals.

Note: This is a temporary position. Interns will be hired and expected to complete their hours to coincide with the academic semester. The position will not extend past the respective semester the candidate is hired.

We Require

  • Completion of one year of Law School

Job Contributions

  • Attend and assist with various aspects of trial work, including jury selection

  • Assist in trial preparation

  • Attend and participate in witness interviews

  • Attend various hearing types, including status conferences, settlement conferences, and evidentiary hearings

  • Draft and edit pleadings

  • Meet with clients both in and out of jail

  • Research legal issues

  • Write legal memoranda

  • Review case files and assist assigned attorneys with additional needs

  • Participate in training related to criminal defense and the development of trial skills

Working Conditions

  • Most work is performed in an office environment or courtroom. Requires the ability to work with traumatic subject matter (crime scenes, accidents, etc.)

  • Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona driver's license upon hire

  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
