JOB SUMMARY:
The Superintendent Maintenance leads a team of mechanical, electrical, and controls staff to ensure safe and efficient production. This role must comply with all safety policies and procedures including environmental to ensure Zero Harm Today. In addition, this role effectively resolves complex manufacturing problems and introduces innovative solutions. This role utilizes Continuous Improvement principles to streamline and improve manufacturing processes. This role executes under the company principles; Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration, and Endurance to implement capital projects that will support the strategic company goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Oversees and directs all maintenance related functions to ensure plant operations can maintain safety compliance
  • Managing safety incidents to ensure protocol is followed and maintained
  • Utilize problem solving techniques to resolve complex manufacturing problems
  • Work with cross functional teams to correct manufacturing issues
  • Responsible for plant safety compliance, including air pollution, health department regulations and OSHA requirements
  • Communicate and enforce company policies to employees
  • Inspect, monitor, and control the quality of workmanship and completed tasks to ensure it meets company standards
  • Implement and maintain plant preventive maintenance program
  • Maintain monthly parts and supply budget in excess $60K and labor costs
  • Fully proficient with all machinery
  • Utilizes manufacturing Lean principles to minimize operating costs by efficiently maintain spare part levels
  • Oversee the usage and availability of PPE ensure the best quality at the best cost
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of all quality assurance procedures and requirements
  • Implement changes in working conditions to improve the effectiveness of efficiency
  • Responsible for maintenance department housekeeping ensuring a safe work environment
  • Drive Continuous Improvement by executing Gemba Walks and holding 5S events
  • Read and write mechanical drawings
  • Utilize project management software
  • Responsible for administration of discipline and attendance policies per Policies
  • Lead daily meeting
  • Assists and develops maintenance staffing as needed and directed
  • Actively participate and execute as needed in weekly staff meetings
  • Communicate with all aspects of the operations, from CEO to plant personnel
  • Maintain contractor compliance
  • Sustain plant facilities
  • Maintain Westlake Engineering standards in accordance with the latest industry and legal requirements for plant operations and capital projects
  • Develop innovative solutions to drive energy costs down
  • Maintain a fleet of mobile equipment that include: Electric Pallet Jacks, Sit down forklifts, Sweeper, and Front-End Loader
  • Issuing work permits for nonstandard work
  • All other assigned duties by Plant Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Possess Westlake core values

  • Total Productive Maintenance
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • CAD and SAP enterprise software desired
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Previous management and supervisory experience required
  • Ability to manage capital projects from inception to completion
  • Ability to implement changes
  • Fix Preventative Maintenance desired
  • Inventory and related budget experience
  • Mechanically inclined
  • OSHA safety requirements
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma experience desired
  • Knowledge of regulatory or environmental requirements
  • Precast concrete industry desired
  • Automated material handling system desired

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in functional role

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $90K to $117K This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
